KRS Australia SEO Strategy
A comprehensive SEO and local SEO strategy for krsaustralia.com.au, covering current performance, competitor landscape, cannibalisation issues, ideal site architecture, suburb targeting, and a topical blog map.
1. Current Domain Health
Live Ahrefs data for krsaustralia.com.au as of 6 March 2026
The Big Picture
KRS Australia ranks for 475 organic keywords globally, bringing in around 1,340 monthly visits from Australia. By comparison, Roof Racks Galore ranks for 7,867 keywords pulling 32,547 visits, and Rhino Rack commands 6,533 keywords and 72,383 visits. KRS does rank for high-value head terms like "roof racks" and "roof rack," but at positions 16 to 24, which is page 2 to 3 of Google and generates almost zero clicks. Moving these to page 1 is the core objective.
2. Competitor Landscape
How KRS compares to the leading roof rack and vehicle accessories brands in Australia

|---|---|---|---|---|
| krs | 150 | #1 | 58 | / (homepage) |
| conduit holder | 150 | #1 | 46 | /bazooka-tubes-conduit-carriers/ |

| ford everest roof rack | 300 | #9 | 16 | /product/ford-everest-my22-roof-racks/ |
The Core Problem
KRS ranks for the biggest terms in the industry ("roof racks" at #24, "roof rack" at #16), but these positions deliver almost zero traffic. Position 24 is page 3 of Google. For reference, Roof Racks Galore ranks #1 for "roof racks" and their homepage alone pulls 12,984 visits/month from that cluster. The keywords that actually drive traffic to KRS today are conduit holders, pipe caps, van flooring, and brand terms, not roof racks. The goal is to push the roof rack terms from page 2-3 into the top 10.
4. Cannibalisation Issue: Roof Racks
Two pages are competing for the same keyword, and Google is choosing the wrong one
/roof-racks/
Content landing page with intro copy + product grid
2 keywords | 0 traffic
Best keyword: "roofracks" at #29
/product-category/roof-rack-systems/
WooCommerce product category (thin auto-generated page)
10 keywords | 20 traffic
"roof racks" #24 | "roof rack" #16
The /roof-racks/ page has better content (intro copy, product descriptions, imagery), but Google is picking the WooCommerce /product-category/roof-rack-systems/ page instead. Neither is properly optimised, and the signal is split between them.
This same pattern appears across the site. The nav menu links to /roof-racks/ but that page then links out to /product-category/roof-rack-systems/ with a CTA. Google sees this as a doorway and indexes the category page instead.
The Fix
Consolidate into one authoritative page per keyword cluster. The /roof-racks/ page should become the primary landing page for "roof racks" with rich, optimised content, proper H1/title tags, internal links pointing to it from across the site, and the product grid embedded directly (not linking away to a separate category page). The /product-category/roof-rack-systems/ URL should either redirect to /roof-racks/ or be canonicalised to it.
5. Keyword Opportunity Map
High-value keywords sorted by volume, showing current position and the action needed

| roof racks | 4,400 | 3 | #24 | FIX CANNIBALISATION → push to top 10 |

| prado roof rack | 150 | 0 | #7 | PUSH to top 5 |
| aluminium roof rack | 150 | 0 | Not ranking | CREATE material-type page |
6. Ideal Target Site Architecture
One primary keyword per page, zero cannibalisation. EXISTS = live FIX = needs optimising NEW = create CANNIBALISATION = consolidate
7. Suburb & Location Page Strategy
Location pages to capture "near me" and suburb-specific search intent
KRS should create a primary Adelaide location page, then suburb-specific pages for areas with commercial and trade activity. Each page should feature unique content about serving that area, include a Google Map embed, a clear call to action, and link back to the relevant product categories.
| Location Page | Target Keyword | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| /roof-racks-adelaide/ | roof racks adelaide (250/mo) | Primary location page, anchor for all suburb pages |
| /roof-racks-adelaide/salisbury/ | roof racks salisbury | Industrial/trade hub, high commercial vehicle density |
| /roof-racks-adelaide/lonsdale/ | roof racks lonsdale | Southern suburbs industrial area |
| /roof-racks-adelaide/prospect/ | roof racks prospect | Inner north, near KRS location |
| /roof-racks-adelaide/edwardstown/ | roof racks edwardstown | Central trade/commercial corridor |
| /roof-racks-adelaide/port-adelaide/ | roof racks port adelaide | Maritime/logistics hub |
| /roof-racks-adelaide/modbury/ | roof racks modbury | North-east suburban trade area |
| /roof-racks-adelaide/marion/ | roof racks marion | Southern suburbs commercial centre |
Google Business Profile
The existing GBP still lists the business as "Kinetics Australia" with no reviews and the wrong category. This needs to be updated to "KRS Australia", set to the correct primary category (e.g. "Vehicle Accessories Store" or "Roof Rack Supplier"), and then actively managed for review generation. A properly optimised GBP is essential for appearing in the local map pack for "roof racks adelaide" and "roof racks near me" searches.

9. Technical Low Hanging Fruit (Web Dev)
Web development fixes that will have an immediate positive impact on SEO
Resolve Cannibalisation (Roof Racks)
Consolidate /roof-racks/ and /product-category/roof-rack-systems/ into one authoritative page. 301 redirect the category URL to /roof-racks/. This alone could move "roof racks" from #24 towards the top 10.
Fix Server Errors (5xx)
Previous audits flagged 42+ live 5xx errors. These block Google from crawling and indexing your pages. Fix these first as they affect the entire site.
Fix Broken Internal Links (141+)
Broken internal links waste crawl budget and create dead ends for both users and search engines. Run a crawl and redirect or repair all broken links.
Title Tags & Meta Descriptions
Most pages lack optimised title tags and meta descriptions. Each page should have a unique title featuring the primary keyword. For example, /roof-racks/ should have: "Roof Racks Australia | Australian Made Roof Rack Systems | KRS".
Page Speed Optimisation
The site uses lazy loading but still has large unoptimised images (visible in source). Convert images to WebP, implement proper caching, and minify CSS/JS.
Schema Markup
Add Product schema to all WooCommerce products (with price, availability, reviews), LocalBusiness schema to the homepage and contact page, and Organization schema for brand recognition.
Sitemap & Robots.txt Audit
Ensure the XML sitemap accurately reflects the live site, remove any orphan or thin pages, and verify robots.txt is not blocking important content.
Mobile Responsiveness & HTTPS
Ensure all pages serve over HTTPS with no mixed content. Run a full mobile usability audit. Google uses mobile-first indexing.
