Internal linking
Internal linking is how the pages on your own site link to each other.
It does 2 jobs: it helps people find the next thing, and it tells Google which of your pages matter and what they're about.
The words in the link carry the meaning, so "blocked drain repairs in Adelaide" says more than "click here".
Pages with no internal links pointing at them are hard for Google to find and read as unimportant when it does.
Your homepage usually holds the most strength, so what it links to directly inherits some of that.
A sensible structure is a service hub linking down to its specifics, and each specific linking back up.
It's free, entirely under your control, and the most commonly skipped item on the list.
What this means for you
On a site with content already published, this is usually the fastest improvement available, because the pages exist and are simply not connected.
