AI Search Visibility

Google's AI Overviews and assistants like ChatGPT now answer questions people used to type into a search box. When someone asks “who's a good plumber near me”, the answer names a handful of businesses. We make sure yours is one the systems can confidently name - using the same signals good SEO has always built, not gimmicks.

AI Overview

AI search visibility means being the business that Google's AI Overviews and AI assistants name when someone asks for a local service. These systems draw on the same signals as classic local SEO: real customer reviews, consistent business data across the web, a complete Google Business Profile, and pages that genuinely answer questions. Loudachris includes AI search visibility in its standard Website SEO retainer from $1,500+GST/month, month to month with no lock-in contracts, and does not sell llms.txt files, AI schema hacks, or other debunked “AEO” tactics.

How AI answers actually pick local businesses.

Try it yourself: ask an assistant for a tradie in your suburb. The answer usually reads like a summary of the map pack plus review highlights. That's not a coincidence.

They lean on reviews and reputation

When an AI answer recommends a local business, it typically paraphrases what reviewers say about that business on Google and across the web. Volume, recency, rating, and the actual words customers use all feed the answer. A business with a steady stream of genuine, detailed reviews gives the system something concrete to say. A business with 9 reviews from 3 years ago gives it nothing.

They cross-check your business data

AI systems build a picture of your business as an entity: name, location, services, hours, phone number. When your website, your Google Business Profile, and the directories that mention you all agree, the system can state facts about you with confidence. When they conflict - an old address here, a disconnected number there - the safest move for the system is to name someone else.

They quote pages that answer the question

AI Overviews cite sources, and assistants retrieve pages before they answer. Pages that plainly state what you do, where you do it, what it roughly costs, and how the process works are the pages that get retrieved and cited. A vague brochure page that says “quality service, competitive prices” gives an AI system nothing quotable, so it quotes your competitor instead.

What to fix first for AI search visibility.

In order of impact. Every item is standard SEO work, which is exactly the point.

Google Business Profile

A complete, accurate, active profile is the single richest data source AI answers have about a local business. Correct categories, full service areas, real photos, regular posts, every attribute filled in. This is the same work that wins the map pack, and it's where the same review and profile signals that took Adam Plumbing & Gas from 13 to 41 jobs a month get built.

Review Velocity

Not a one-off review blitz - a repeatable system that turns happy customers into a steady flow of genuine, detailed Google reviews, with a professional reply to every one. Reviews are the raw material AI answers summarise when they describe your business, so the words your customers use become the words the answer uses.

Entity-Consistent Data

A single version of the truth everywhere: same name, address, phone, services, and hours on your website, Google Business Profile, directories, and socials, backed by clean schema.org markup on the site itself. Consistency is what lets an AI system state facts about your business instead of hedging or skipping you.

Question-Answering Content

Structured, factual pages that answer the questions your customers actually ask: what the service includes, which areas you cover, roughly what it costs, how long it takes, what happens after they call. Written for people, quotable by machines. This is the content AI Overviews cite and assistants retrieve.

The Snake-Oil List

What we deliberately don't sell.

A wave of agencies is selling “AEO” and “GEO” packages built on tactics with no evidence behind them. Here's the list, so you can recognise the pitch when you hear it.

llms.txt files

A proposed text file that supposedly tells AI crawlers what your site is about. No major AI platform has committed to reading it, and Google has said it doesn't use it. Adding one changes nothing. Charging for one is charging for nothing.

“AI-specific” schema hacks

There is no secret schema type that AI systems reward. Standard schema.org markup, implemented correctly, is the real thing - and it's been part of proper technical SEO for years. Anyone selling it back to you rebadged as an AI exclusive is repackaging work you should already be getting.

“Chunked” content rewrites

Rewriting your pages into short robot-friendly fragments to “help retrieval”. Google's own guidance says to write for people, and content mangled for machines reads worse to the customers who actually click through. Clear, well-structured writing helps both audiences. Mangling helps neither.

Standalone “AEO packages”

A separate monthly fee for “AI optimisation” on top of your SEO retainer. Since the signals are the same signals, this is paying twice for the same work - or worse, paying for the debunked tactics above. If the work is real, it belongs inside the SEO retainer you're already paying for.

A fair test for any “AI SEO” pitch: ask for evidence the tactic works, and ask why the work isn't already part of their standard SEO. If the answers are vague, you have your answer.

How We Do It

AI search visibility is included in Website SEO. Not sold on top of it.

Our Website SEO retainer starts at $1,500+GST/month, month to month, no lock-in contracts. AI search visibility isn't a line item on top of that. It's what the retainer already builds: structured factual pages, entity-consistent business data, review systems, and Google Business Profile work alongside local SEO. As AI Overviews appear on more Australian searches, the same work keeps compounding into a new surface.

We also practise this on our own site. loudachris.com.au runs a dedicated AI info page that gives AI systems a single canonical, factual source about who we are, what we do, and what we charge. The clients whose results we publish - Adam Plumbing & Gas going from 13 to 41 jobs a month in 4 months, Mark L Hair buying his salon 5 months after switching to Maps SEO - got there on exactly these signals: reviews, profile depth, and pages that answer real questions.

Audit

We check what AI Overviews and assistants currently say (and don't say) about your business, then trace every gap back to the signal that causes it.

Build

We fix the data, build the review system, deepen the Google Business Profile, and write the pages that answer the questions your customers actually ask.

Measure

We report on rankings, calls, and enquiries - and check how your business shows up in AI answers over time, honestly, without inventing a metric to bill against.

Questions about AI search visibility.

Do I need a separate AEO or GEO service to show up in AI search?
No. The signals AI systems use to pick local businesses are the same ones good SEO builds: real reviews, consistent business data, a complete Google Business Profile, and pages that genuinely answer questions. That's why AI search visibility is included in our normal Website SEO retainer from $1,500+GST/month rather than sold as a separate product. Anyone selling “AEO” as a standalone monthly add-on is charging you twice for the same work.
How do Google's AI Overviews choose which local businesses to mention?
Google hasn't published a formula, but the pattern is consistent: AI Overviews for local-service queries typically draw on the same data as the map pack and organic results. That means Google Business Profile information, review volume and ratings, and pages that clearly describe the service and the area. Businesses that already rank well in local search and have strong review profiles are typically the ones named. There is no separate ranking system to trick.
Can you get ChatGPT to recommend my business?
Nobody can guarantee a specific mention in ChatGPT, Gemini, or any AI answer, and you should be wary of anyone who says they can. What we can do is improve the inputs these systems rely on: your reviews, your business data across the web, and how clearly your website answers the questions people actually ask. When those are strong, being recommended stops being luck and starts being likely.
Should I add an llms.txt file or special AI schema to my site?
No. No major AI platform has committed to reading llms.txt files, and there is no secret AI-only schema type. Standard schema.org markup, implemented properly, is the real thing - and it's part of normal technical SEO. We deliberately don't sell llms.txt files, “AI schema hacks”, or content rewritten into robot-friendly chunks, because there's no evidence any of it works.
How much does AI search visibility cost?
Nothing extra with us. It's built into Website SEO, which starts at $1,500+GST/month, month to month with no lock-in contracts. See our SEO pricing guide for what typically drives SEO pricing up or down. If another agency quotes you a separate “AI optimisation” fee on top of SEO, ask them exactly which deliverables aren't already covered by good SEO. The honest answer is usually none.
Will AI Overviews reduce my website traffic?
For informational queries, click-through rates typically drop when an AI Overview appears - estimates vary, but the direction is clear. For local-service queries the picture is different: people still need to call someone, and the businesses named in the answer get the enquiry. The defensive move and the offensive move are the same thing: be the business the answer names, and make sure your phone number and booking path are easy to find once someone clicks through.
