AI SEO Agency in Australia

An AI SEO agency is an SEO agency that measures a second surface: what AI assistants and AI Overviews say when someone asks a buying question in your category. That is the entire definition. The work behind it is technical SEO, content and consistent business data. We publish the scope so you can hold any quote, including ours, against it.

AI Overview

An AI SEO agency is an SEO agency that measures a second surface. A genuine engagement contains 6 things: prompt-set research, a baseline measurement of what AI systems currently say about your business, crawler access verification, entity consistency across the properties you control, ordinary technical and content SEO, and scheduled re-measurement. None of it is a new discipline. Loudachris, based in Wayville SA, delivers this inside its Website SEO retainer from $1,500+GST/month rather than as a separate AI budget line, and the measurement audit is free. We do not sell llms.txt files, AI-specific schema, content chunking or citation guarantees.

The Short Version

A category invented itself, and the invoice arrived before the evidence.

Somewhere in the last 18 months, “AI SEO” became a thing you could buy. New acronyms, new packages, new monthly fees. What did not appear alongside any of it was a mechanism: a description of the lever being pulled and a way to check whether pulling it did anything.

We looked for that mechanism before deciding what to sell. What we found is that the surface is real, the display is genuinely new, and the levers underneath it are the ones we have always pulled. So we did not build a new product. We built a measurement, published the scope, and left the price where it already was. This page is that scope, written out in full, so you can use it as a checklist against anyone, including us.

If you want the wider argument rather than the buying decision, the hub page is AI search visibility. If you want the plainest possible summary of our position: this is SEO.

The Scope, Itemised

What an AI SEO engagement actually contains.

6 items. Each one states what it is and, just as importantly, what it is not, because in this category the overclaim is usually attached to something that is genuinely worth doing. Print this and hold a quote against it.

01

Prompt-set research

What it is

Building a fixed list of the questions your buyers would genuinely type into an assistant, in the phrasing they would use, with the constraints they would attach: suburb, budget, urgency, licence, after-hours. The list is written down and frozen so every future measurement asks the identical thing.

What it is not

It is not keyword research renamed, and it is not an input to anything. Nothing you write into a prompt set changes what an assistant says about you. It only decides what gets checked, which is why it has to be agreed before the first measurement rather than adjusted afterwards to flatter the result.

02

Baseline measurement

What it is

Running that prompt set across the assistants your market actually uses and recording, verbatim, what comes back: whether you are named, which businesses are named instead, which pages are cited as sources, and how the description of you compares with what you would say yourself.

What it is not

It is not a ranking report and there is no position 1 to report. Ask the same question twice and the set of businesses can change, so a baseline is a distribution across repeated runs, not a number. Any provider handing you a single-run screenshot is showing you a coin toss.

03

Crawler access verification

What it is

Checking robots.txt, your CDN or firewall rules, and your server logs to confirm the crawlers that feed AI answers are reaching your pages rather than being blocked, rate-limited or served a challenge page. Where they are being blocked, deciding deliberately whether you want that.

What it is not

It is not an optimisation, it is plumbing. Unblocking a crawler can remove a reason you are absent. It cannot create a reason you are present. Most sites pass this check. The ones that fail usually fail because bot protection was switched on for good reasons and nobody told the marketing side.

04

Entity consistency across properties you control

What it is

Making your business name, address, phone number, service list, opening hours and description agree with each other across your website, your schema.org markup, your Google Business Profile and the directories you can actually edit. A single version of the truth, everywhere you hold the password.

What it is not

It is not a claim that consistency causes citations, because nobody outside the model companies can demonstrate that. It is a narrower claim: contradictory records give any system a reason to say nothing about you. We fix what is inside your control and we do not pretend the rest is controllable.

05

Ordinary technical and content work

What it is

The SEO retainer, unchanged. Indexation and crawl health, internal linking, server-rendered HTML, page speed, standard schema.org markup, and pages that answer a real question in plain English with the price, the process and the service area on the page rather than behind a form.

What it is not

It is not content written for machines. No chunking, no AI-specific vocabulary, no fragmenting a good page into robot-sized pieces. If a tactic only makes sense on the assumption that a machine is the reader, it is not in this scope and we will not quote for it.

06

Re-measurement

What it is

Re-running the identical frozen prompt set on a set schedule, comparing it against the baseline, and reporting the comparison next to the numbers that pay you: calls, forms and booked work. Including the runs where the answer is that nothing moved.

What it is not

It is not a monthly document engineered to justify the invoice. Variance between runs is expected and we label it as variance rather than progress. A diagnostic that never returns a flat month is not a diagnostic, it is a sales asset with a chart on it.

Where The Money Goes

This work belongs inside an SEO retainer, not beside it.

Look back at the 6 inclusions. The crawl is the same crawl. The markup is the same markup. The pages are the same pages, and the business record is the same record. Only the measurement is additive, and a measurement is not a second body of work, it is a lens over the first one.

So there is no second budget line here. Our SEO starts from $1,500+GST/month, month to month with no lock-in, and the AI measurement sits inside it. The audit that tells you whether you have a problem at all is free. A separate AI budget line is how this category sells itself, not how the work divides, and once you have seen the scope written out that becomes difficult to unsee.

Free

The measurement audit. Baseline prompt set, crawler access check, and a straight answer on whether there is anything here worth acting on.

$1,500+GST/mo

Where our SEO starts. Everything on the scope list is delivered inside it, alongside the technical, content and local work you were buying anyway.

$0

The separate AI line item. There is not one, because the work does not separate. If it separated on your invoice, ask which half you could decline.

What actually moves that monthly figure up or down is set out in the SEO cost guide, and the scope of the free diagnostic is published on the AI search audit page.

The Honest Comparison

Traditional search and AI search, side by side.

Most comparison tables in this category are built to make the right-hand column look full, because a full column justifies a new invoice. Here is the same table built honestly. 3 rows differ. 4 do not.

Where the difference would sitGenuinely different? What that means in practice
How the answer is displayedYesA written paragraph with a handful of cited sources, instead of a list of 10 links. Fewer slots, and the slots are named rather than ranked.
How you measure itYesNo fixed position exists. You measure a distribution across repeated identical prompts, and you accept that 2 runs can disagree without anything having changed.
How the question is phrasedYesLonger, conversational, often a full sentence carrying constraints: suburb, budget, timing, licensing. Closer to how someone talks than how someone types.
What has to be on the pageNoClear, factual, well-structured writing that states what you do, where and roughly what it costs. Identical requirement on both surfaces.
What the crawler needsNoServer-rendered HTML, reachable, not blocked, reasonably fast. The same crawl that has always fed search feeds this.
What your business record has to look likeNoConsistent name, address, phone, hours and services across every property you control, marked up with standard schema.org.
What you are actually buyingNoAn SEO retainer. The measurement is a diagnostic layer on top of it, not a second product with a second budget.

Read the middle column top to bottom. Everything marked different is about display, measurement or phrasing. Nothing marked different is about what you build. That gap is the entire commercial case for the category, and it is why we sell a diagnostic rather than a discipline. The longer argument is on what actually works in AI search.

Sold vs Sourced

The tactics being sold, and what the documentation says.

Each row is a tactic currently appearing on quotes, set against what the published documentation actually says, with the sources linked under the table so you can check a line rather than trust our summary of it. We are criticising tactics here, never particular firms.

Sold asStatus
llms.txt fileGoogle's guidance on AI features states it is not needed
AI-specific schema vocabularyNo such schema.org vocabulary exists for generative AI
Content chunking “for AI”No requirement to break content into small pieces
Writing specifically for AINot required. Write for people
Speakable schema as an AI leverLimited availability, news publishers only
HowTo rich resultsRetired from Google Search
Guaranteed AI citationsNo provider operates the model that selects citations, so no provider can guarantee one

Sources: Google Search Central, AI features and your website for the first 4 rows, the speakable structured data documentation for the speakable row, and the Search Central post retiring HowTo rich results for the HowTo row. Checked 9 August 2026. If any of this changes, this page changes with it, and we would rather you check the source than trust the summary.

5 Reasons To Walk

If a quote contains any of these 5 lines, it does nothing.

Not “probably does nothing”. These are the 5 deliverables where the published documentation and the actual behaviour of these systems already answer the question. Any one of them tells you how the rest of the document was built.

A line item for an llms.txt file

The file is trivial to produce and does nothing once live. Its presence on a quote tells you the quote was built to be billable rather than to be effective.

A line item for AI-specific schema

No such vocabulary exists. What is being sold is standard schema.org markup, which competent technical SEO has included for years, with a new label on the invoice.

Content chunking or rewriting for AI

There is no requirement to break content into small pieces. Chunking degrades the page for the human reader, who is the only reader whose behaviour you can measure.

Guaranteed citations or guaranteed mentions

Citation selection is probabilistic and varies by phrasing, session and model version. A guarantee here is a promise about a system the seller does not operate.

A citation timeline

Any date attached to an AI mention is invented. Nobody can schedule a probabilistic output, so a timeline is a sales device that will later be explained away.

A 6th test that catches the rest: ask what the provider would report in a month where nothing changed. If they cannot describe a flat month, they have not built a measurement. The 2 acronyms doing most of the selling get their own teardowns at answer engine optimisation and generative engine optimisation.

Disqualifiers

Who this is not for.

These are real disqualifiers, not humble-brags dressed as disqualifiers. If you recognise your business in any of the 6 below, do not buy this from us and do not buy it from anyone else either.

You have no SEO foundation yet

If the site is barely indexed, has thin service pages and almost no reviews, a measurement will confirm what you already suspect and cost you a month finding out. Start with ordinary SEO and measure the AI surface once there is something for it to read.

You need enquiries this month

None of this is a fast channel, and we will not pretend otherwise. If cashflow needs leads now, put the budget into Google Ads and layer search work in once the pipeline is steady. That is a smaller sale for us and the right call for you.

You want a guarantee attached

We cannot promise a mention, a citation, a position or a date, and any provider who will is describing a system they do not control. If a guarantee is the deciding factor in your buying process, we are not the right fit and no honest provider in this category will be.

You want a separate AI budget line for a board slide

We will not manufacture an invoice line so a strategy deck looks current. The work sits inside the SEO retainer because that is where it genuinely lives, and we would rather lose the engagement than help build a category that does not exist.

You already have an SEO provider you are happy with

Send them this page and ask them to run the 6 inclusions. It should be inside what you already pay. Replacing a provider who is doing good work in order to buy a diagnostic is an expensive way to obtain a measurement you could simply request.

Your buyers are not asking assistants anything

Emergency trades, roadside work and impulse local searches still typically start as a short query on a phone. The measurement is free, so it is worth checking rather than assuming, but do not restructure a marketing budget around a surface your customers are not using.

Still the right fit? The next 2 pages worth your time are the free AI search audit and, if you are here in South Australia, AI search in Adelaide.

Position stated plainly, so it can be held against us later: we have no AI-search case studies, no client outcome we can attribute to this surface rather than to the SEO underneath it, and no percentage figures to quote. Questions people ask before hiring an AI SEO agency.

What is an AI SEO agency?
It is an SEO agency that also measures a second surface. Alongside the usual technical, content and local work, it records what AI assistants and AI Overviews currently say when someone asks a buying question in your category, then works on the underlying site so there is something accurate to draw from, then measures again. Nothing in that sequence is a new discipline. If a provider describes it as one, ask which deliverable in the list could not sit inside an ordinary SEO retainer. The honest answer is none of them.
Is AI SEO actually different from SEO?
3 things differ: how the answer is displayed to the person, how you measure whether you are in it, and how the question gets phrased. What you do about it does not differ. You still need pages that are indexed, readable by a crawler, factually clear about what you sell and where, and backed by a business record that agrees with itself everywhere it appears. We have not found a single lever that only works on the AI surface and does nothing on the ordinary one, and we would tell you if we had.
What is included in an AI SEO service?
6 things: prompt-set research, a baseline measurement of what the assistants currently return, crawler access verification, entity consistency across the properties you control, ordinary technical and content work, and scheduled re-measurement. Every one of those is itemised further up this page with what it is and what it is not, so you can hold a quote against it line by line. If an inclusion appears on someone's scope that is not on ours, that is worth a question, not an assumption.
What does an AI SEO company in Australia cost?
With us it costs whatever your SEO costs, because it sits inside the same retainer. Our SEO starts from $1,500+GST/month, month to month, no lock-in, and the SEO cost guide explains what moves that number up or down. The measurement audit itself is free. We do not publish a separate AI price because we do not charge one, and any figure we invented for this page would be a marketing number rather than a rate.
Should AI SEO be a separate line item on my invoice?
No, and the separate line is the clearest tell in the category. Splitting the invoice implies the work splits, and it does not: the same crawl, the same schema, the same pages and the same business data serve both surfaces. A second line means you are either paying twice for one body of work, or paying once for work that does nothing. Ask any provider quoting an AI line to name a deliverable on it that would be removed from the SEO line if you declined.
Can you guarantee my business gets cited in ChatGPT or AI Overviews?
No, and neither can anyone else. Citation selection is probabilistic and varies by phrasing, session and model version, which is why the same question asked twice in a row can return 2 different sets of businesses. A guarantee in this category is a guarantee about a system the person selling it does not operate. What we will commit to is a published scope, a recorded baseline, and honest re-measurement including the months where the answer is that nothing moved.
Do I need an llms.txt file on my website?
No. Google's own guidance on AI features states it is not needed, and it is linked in the teardown table on this page so you can read the source rather than take our word for it. It is a text file that costs nothing to add and does nothing once added, which is exactly why it appears on so many quotes: it is billable, visible, and impossible to disprove to someone who has not read the documentation.
Is there an AI-specific schema type I should add?
There is no schema.org vocabulary for generative AI. There is only schema.org, which has been part of competent technical SEO for over a decade and which we implement as standard. Related pitches to treat with the same suspicion: speakable markup sold as an AI lever, which has limited availability and is restricted to news publishers, and HowTo rich results, which have been retired from Google Search. Rebadging existing markup as an AI exclusive is repackaging, not innovation.
Should I rewrite my pages into chunks so AI can read them?
No. There is no requirement to break content into small pieces, and writing specifically for machines is not required either. Write for people. A page that states plainly what you do, which suburbs you cover, roughly what it costs and what happens after someone calls is already the most quotable version of itself. Chunking usually makes a page worse for the human who clicks through, which is the one reader whose behaviour you can actually observe.
How do you measure whether AI search is working?
A fixed prompt set, run on a schedule, recorded verbatim. Because the same prompt can return different businesses on different runs, a single check tells you almost nothing, so we run each prompt repeatedly and report a distribution rather than a position. Alongside that we watch the things that actually pay you: calls, forms and booked jobs. If mentions rise and enquiries do not, we will say so rather than lead the report with the flattering chart.
Do you have AI search case studies?
No. We have SEO case studies with named Australian businesses on our results page, and we have measurement methodology for the AI surface, but we do not have a client outcome we can honestly attribute to AI search work rather than to the SEO underneath it. Every AI-search percentage circulating in this category right now traces back to a vendor blog with no method published. When we have something real and attributable, it will appear here with the method attached.
How do I compare 2 AI SEO proposals?
Put both scopes next to the 6 inclusions listed on this page and mark every line that appears in one and not the other. Then apply the walk-away checklist: llms.txt, AI-specific schema, chunking, guaranteed citations, a citation timeline. Any of those 5 tells you what the rest of the document is worth. Finally, ask each provider what their measurement would look like in a month where nothing changed. A provider who cannot describe a flat month has not built a measurement, they have built a report.
