Title tag

The title tag is the headline of your page as it appears in Google's results and in the browser tab.

It's one of the older ranking signals and still one of the more useful ones, because it states the page's subject directly.

Around 55 to 60 characters shows in full on most screens before Google truncates it.

Google rewrites titles it considers unhelpful, which happens most when the title is stuffed with keywords or repeats the business name.

The job of the title is to win the click from the listing, so leading with the concrete outcome beats leading with the keyword.

Every page needs its own, and duplicate titles across a site are a reliable sign of templated pages.

What this means for you

This is the highest-leverage 60 characters on any page. On a page that already ranks, rewriting the title can lift traffic without touching the content at all.

This one sits under SEO.
