Local pack (map pack)
The local pack is the block of 3 business listings with a map that Google shows for searches with local intent.
It sits above the normal blue-link results, so for a search like "electrician near me" it's the first thing most people see.
What ranks there is driven by your Google Business Profile rather than your website, though the website supports it.
The 3 things Google weighs are relevance, distance from the searcher, and prominence.
Distance is the one you can't change, which is why a business in the CBD and a business in Elizabeth see completely different results for the same search.
Reviews, categories, opening hours, photos and consistent name, address and phone details across the web all feed prominence.
Results vary block by block, so checking your ranking from your own office tells you very little about what a customer 8km away sees.
What this means for you
For most Adelaide service businesses the local pack is worth more than position 1 in the organic results, and it's a different piece of work to get there.
This one sits under Local SEO.
